Make a bench out of bed head post

So cool, I go out to goodwill stores and yard sales and try to find head and foot boards for 10.00 each.In order to make a good bench you need to get both pieces. This is what make the bench special.I take the foot board and cut it to the size seat I want to have. I like to make my seats 20 1/2 in. wide.I think thisgives the bench a good dimension. Then I go to Lowes and get 6 -1in.by 1 1/2in. by 8 foot long.I will cut these to make my seat slats.I also get one 1in. by 6in. by 8 foot long. This will be cut to use as the front lip for seat.I will take a dowel rod 1/2in. and cut it in to 2in. pices. It takes 14 to make a bench.I found by using these dowel pins it makes the bench stronger.I mark and drill my holes 1 1/8 deep this makes room for the wood glue to work. Also I only use water proof glue whitch is good if you plan to put your bench outside.I have 2 pictures of benches I made one is a queen and the other is a twin.Total cost of each bench is about 25.00.cool ha.Need any help making one let me know

Great Tip Rust remover

What a great item a few weeks ago at a yard sale I found some old sockets made by craftman, they were realy rusted up.I tryed several rust cleaners and nothing worked. Then in my work shop I saw this bottle of Lime A-Way.I was about to throw the sockets in the trash. But I found an old bowl and put in the sockets then covered them with lime-a-way.I let them set for 24hr. and low and behold when I washed them off with some soapy water they came out great. The only thing you need to do is wear rubber gloves to protect your hands.

Find of the day

I went to a estate auction and found this great dresser. It is from the middle fourths. All I had to do was reset the bottom wood in the draws,so I reset them and put some liquid nail in corners.By using liquid nail you don't split the wood with the use of a nail.I then shot one coat of la quire and boy did it come out great. Not bad for a 25.00 investment.

Fun Pictures

Hay here is a cheep way to make cool pictures. Well what I do is go to yard sales and find picture frames ,but I never pay more then a dollar for one. What I did last time I found some I stopped at Walmart and checked there calendar section and found an out dated one for .10 .Well think of it 12 pictures for .10. Well I put 3 together ,so check them out. Let me know what you think.Hay that is not bad 1.10 cost for each picture.

Redone Weathervane

As you can see by pictures that the Balls were weathered and broken and not repairable. So my first step was to clean the metal. I used 20 grit sand paper so I did not want to take away from the orignal texture of metal. After that I washed it down with water mixed with some Joy liquid soap. I put aside and let dry for 24 hours. Then I sparyed with black flat out door paint. You need to take your time with spray paint so you dont get paint runs. I put on 3 light coats.I let the painted parts set for 24 hours. Then I added two coats of laqure. This took care of the metal parts.Had to figure out how to replace balls.I went to Home Depot found nothing. Then tryed Lowes still nothing. What to do. Then one night I went to a auction and low and behold there thy were. A seller had yard ornament that were made out of a hard plastic. So I was able to get them cheep anly 2.00 each. The next day I was able to drill 1/2 in. holes in them to fit post.Well let me know what you think. The total cost for this project was 22.50.
